June 10, 2009

This is another bad day in my life. This was the period that I was so much frustrated in my life. I know the reason(only myself), not even my close friend Kaushik knows it. No one ever knows it nor i'll ever let them know. I cant say some matters to anyone, thats why i started this to relieve myself. I might sound overly emotional, but this was how i was during that period. A marriage was there on that day for one of my relative(Lakshmana periyappa's son) in Mettupalayam. Also I had to go to Trichy to get a new catridge for my printer to help my sister finish off her B.Ed Record works. I woke up only by 7am that day and I had to wait for my chithi to reach my native so that i can take her with me. By the time we were waiting for the bus, it was too late. The marriage was over and my relatives were starting to leave one after another. So I decided not to go there as it is a waste of time. Then i started to trichy to get a cartridge. I went to two shops where they said this is a imported printer and you won't be getting a replacement for that in India. So i decided to just refill it for the time being. But watch out for my luck here. The shopkeeper won't send any of his boys to refill it in my house. So i had to come to my native and then take the cartridge. Then I had to reach trichy and give them to refill it and the time was 5.00 in the evening, and still i had not had my lunch. I had GRE exams during that period(duration of just one month to prepare) so i had to finish off every other works so i can start preparing. But then i got the refilled cartridge only by 6 PM. Then I came to Chathiram Bus stand in Trichy to board Thuraiyur bus. I boarded Thuraiyur bus by 6.45 PM. I really thought i should reach my house in the usual time so i can study for atleast an hour before bed. But here comes my luck. It was raining that day and asusual there was a stuck up in the road. So i had to travel an extra hour to reach my place and it was 9 when i reached my home. I finished off my dinner fast to start my sister's work. To add to my frustration on that day was my elder sister's act. I was wandering all that day for her. And she was chatting with her friend Suganya akka when i asked her that shall we start, she told me to wait for fifteen minutes just because she wants to chat with her friend. I asked her to do the work by herself and i slept off. I cant digest things like these those days and when i get angry, i would shake like anything in the world. I would struggle a lot to keep my anger down at these times. I dont know why i have never been an easy going type like others. I never take these things easily.

6-4 lead with two more games to go...

Vladimir Kramnik finally struck against the defending World Champion Anand with a boosting win to stay alive in the 10 th game of the 12-game World Chess Championship.Needing to win to stay with the hope of the title,Kramnik beat the defending champion in 29 moves to narrow the gap down to 6-4.Anand led the championship 6-3 before the start of the 10th game, needed just a draw to regain the title but faltered as the Russian finally found his lost form and rhythm.Anand needs just a draw to win the title, but Kramnik has to win both the 11th and 12th game to bring a tie-breaker.Kramnik was aggressive from the start and made the Indian think midway through. The game went into the three knights defence, which Garry Kasparov has used effectively in the past against the Indian.Anand but salvaged a draw in that match, whereas Kramnik went off that slight line and ensured a lease of life for him in a match that seemed to be taking him to his doom after three losses in last four games. The win with white also gave Kramnik added confidence,as two of Anand's three wins came with black pieces. The next game is to be played on Oct 29.

Guess the Winner even in verbal war!!!!!

"Indian players crossed the line," said Australian captain Ponting after the 2nd test in Border-Gavaskar Trophy Mohali. He said that he did not have problems with friendly banters but suggested that Indians got carried away at times. He also said that it was very vivid that Indians were very aggressive the way they batted, bowled and spoke. He reminded that Matthew Hayden was visibly annoyed by Zaheer Khan after the former was dismissed by Bhajji.Matthew gestured to the umpire Koertzen expressing his dismay at the incident. These were the happenings in the Post-Match interview with both captains present.Exactly opposite to Ponting's was the Indian skipper MS Dhoni's way of approach. He sought to play down the war of words. When asked about the incident involving Zaheer he said that it was about some chit-chat there.Asked about that his teammates crossed the line he just said that its upto the match referee to decide and when asked whether the aggressiveness was te part of the ploy to beat the Aussies he said with his usual kiddy nature that if it was so,we would hire some one good at that for the next match.Thats the kinda reply that should be given for those stupid questions. He concluded that a bit of verbal chit-chat is good because it brings some good excitement into the game......

Fatty acids role in Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease or simply Alzheimer's is the most common form of Dementia. In the early stages the most recognized symptom is memory loss, such s difficulty in remembering the recently learned facts. It causes a progressive loss of brain related functions and eventual death. The treatments to ease the symptoms are not very effective and the cure is yet to be discovered.According to a new research, complete or partial removal of an enzyme that regulates the fatty acid levels improves the brain related deficits in the mouse model of Alzheimer's disease.Fatty acids are rapidly taken up by the brain and incorporated into the phospholipids, a class of fats that form the barrier that shields the contents of cells from the external environment. The change they discovered in the Alzheimer mice was an increase in arachidonic acid and related metabolites in the hippocampus, a memory center that is affected severely in the Alzheimer disease. In the brain, arachidonic acid is released from the phospholipids by an enzyme called IVA phospholipase A2 (or PLA2).Removal or even partial reduction of PLA2 enzyme prevented memory deficits and other behavioral abnormalities in the Alzheimer mice.

Chinese GP

The Briton Lewis Hamilton won the Chinese GP on Sunday to extend his Championship lead to seven points.Hamilton won by 15 seconds from his title rival Felipe Massa to move to the brink of his first title, with one more race to go in Brazil. The Briton also led the eventual champion Kimi Raikkonen by seven points before the final GP but finished only seventh in the final race and surrendered the title to the Finn.Hamilton and Massa are now tied for race wins and second places but Hamilton has one more third placing.which means he has advantage in the countback if the pair are tied on points after the final race of the season.Hamilton will clinch the title in Brazil unless Massa wins and he finishes no higher than seventh,or Massa finishes second and Hamilton out of points.Renault's Alonso finished fourth, ahead of the BMW pairs.Raikkonen was second for most of the race, before conceding that to Massa in the 50th lap to keep the Brazilian's title hope alive."I am not in a position to challenge for the title.I know what the team expects and I am happy to achieve maximum points for the team. For my season,it doesn't make any difference" Raikkonen said.Hamilton's win was the ninth of his carrier, and he set the fastest lap of this year.He achieved the combination of the race win, pole position and fastest lap for the second time in his carrier, after last year's Japanese GP.
So close,yet so far right???

SpaceCraft to probe the edge of Solar System

A small NASA spacecraft to be embarked on a two year mission to give scientists the happenings at the edge of the solar system. The Ibex probe will study a chaotic region in space where the solar wind from the sun clashes with the cold gases from the Interstellar space. The solar wind spewing from the sun at 1 million miles per hour, forms a protective bubble(Heliosphere) around the sun which shields the cosmic radiation from entering the earth.Scientists recently discovered that the solar wind pressure is at its weakest level in the past 50 years which could mean the heliosphere is shrinking and that would result in the mixing of the cosmic radiations with those in Interstellar space.Ibex in the size of a bus tire will be launched aboard a Pegasus Rocket that will be dropped from an aircraft over a Pacific atoll. The rocket will lift Ibex 130 miles above Earth and put it into orbit. The spacecraft will then fire its solid rocket motor to loft eventually to a height of 321,853 kilometers above the Earth. The Ibex will not barrel through the space but instead will do its job from high-Earth orbit. The probe carries two sensors that will collect information about the solar wind's mass and energy from all directions.

Ex-Beijing official sentenced to death

A Former Beijing Vice-Mayor Liu Zhihua in charge of overseeing Olympic construction projects has been given a death sentence for corruption. The Intermediate People's Court in Hengshui ordered the death sentence on Saturday after finding Liu guilty of taking bribes. The government squelched all reporting in Liu's prosecution in the months leading up to the August Olympic games in order to avoid tarnishing its image on the global stage.Officials said Liu's misdeeds had nothing to do with the Olympic projects, but his dismissal put a cloud over the preparations and prompted the authorities to take up the legal steps.Liu was elected as Vice-Mayor in 1999 and kicked out of the Communist party in 2006.Liu faced 10 charges for accepting bribes totally about 7 million yuan and gifts in return for favors to property development companies.Even though Liu was charged for the death sentence,it has been suspended for two years, which means if Liu shows good behaviour,he will be sentenced to life imprisonment. Many officials have been charged in this respect like in construction in Olympic projects.

Power Cut in TamilNadu

In Tamil Nadu its really like revisiting the 1900's.You wake up to no electricity in the morning and go to sleep with no power in the night. The current power situation in TN is at its worst.Places outside Chennai in TN faces power cut for nearly 7 hours a day.The houses and industries remain dark for one third of the day. Some industries have even reached an extent to be closed.Foremost is the worst maintenance of power plants.During 2004, the power production across the state was 11,000MW whereas nowadays it has reduced to 7,500MW.Not just the machines are at bad conditions in these plants but the raw materials used such as coal contains nearly 40% ash.The reason for all of this is corruption from top to down. The reports(unconfirmed) say that the TN offers small contracts worth Rs.1,100 crores. But the Diwali bonus to those who work under the TNEB is only 20% percent. It will take at least four years to run the plant at full capacity.Meanwhile many industries are going to be closed and suicides count due to lack of basic needs is going to keep on increasing.Until the Govt. of TN takes some praiseworthy steps to make some restoration,TN people are going to experience the modern life's stone age which is going to be every difficult with 15 to 17 hrs power cut a day.

Genetic clues to male baldness found

Male pattern baldness is the common form of baldness which leads to loss of hair in a well-defined pattern, starting with the temples and resulting in a distinctive M-shaped hairline.Researchers have found two DNA variants in Caucasian men that could be linked to higher risk of male pattern baldness. They found a way that could lead to an earlier prediction of hair loss and a future treatment to check male pattern baldness which affects one in three men over the age of 45.They found two previously unknown genetic variants on chromosome 20 that substantially increased the male pattern baldness. To confirm these findings, they carried out research on nearly 1600 additional caucasian men.Earlier prediction before hair loss may lead to some interesting therapies that are more effective than late age hair therapies. It has been long recognised that ther must be several genes causing male baldness. If one have the risk variants on the X-chromosome 20 and the unrelated known variant on the X-chromosome,his risk of becoming bald increases seven folds.About one-third of men are affected by baldness by the age of 45 in an average.

Viswanathan Anand vs Vladimir Kramnik

Viswanathan Anand crashed through the defences of Vladimir Kramnik in the third game at art and exhibition hall.Anand now leads the 12-game match 2-1 with nine to play.Anand employed the Slav defense for the second time in the match while Kramnik went for an age-old match setup which is known to have many complexities.Anand looked as the better prepared from the very start of the game.He blitzed out the moves in a quicker time while his opponent was struggling to keep him out of the game.It was only on the 19th move he had to think for a while and he had a huge lead on time over Kramnik. With pressure building, Kramnik lost control in his 33rd move and made a blunder although Anand did not remove the curtains.Kramnik lost his queen over d moves of black coins firing at his king and the rest was easy pickings for the World Champion.
